iPhone 2G owners know the existence of different Instant Messaging programs already available on the Internet for their device, the functionality of these solutions is now as established and tested, and the availability of open source SDK gave a strong impetus in this direction, allowing developers and enthusiasts from around the world to contribute in the construction of these products.
However, one of the limitations of the current version of iPhone , is the impossibility of such applications in the background, it is not just a limitation because this forces the user to continue log-in and log-off when they need to move this application to another or vice versa.
New to this effect may come from a new and proprietary chat solution, patented by Apple last March, which act on each permit application, will in future allow the same but can be kept running in the background.
Apple has not announced whether it will add this new patent in the code of the firmware 2.0 , it is unclear whether it will instead be downloaded externally via iTunes .
