the day of the January 31 community Bernalda recalls the martyrs of the fascist dell'eccidio 1923 with a ceremony commemorating the sad event and lay wreaths in front of the plaque that commemorates the sacrifice of Giuseppe Viggiano, father of former mayor, and Pasquale Gallitelli Maria Di Stasi, shot to death while she was breastfeeding her baby. On the same day more than eighty years ago in Bernalda gathered the fascist action squads of various neighboring countries, to give life to a manifestation of propaganda aimed at raising a city that still did not register a strong presence of the movement, what was be the culmination of the event, namely the blessing of the pennant Fascist Instead it was the beginning of the tragedy. In fact, the same day also the teams of national action, much in the community bernaldese, came together resulting in violent clashes with political opponents. The black shirts but not limited to riots and looting shops in the country, but they entered the homes of our fellow citizens in search of their rivals by lead all in a real slaughter. The memory of such incidents is of paramount importance to keep alive and pass on to younger generations, of which I am largely part, the principles on which the Democratic Party, or freedom, respect and equality. To call this my whole community to participate at the memorial service or even just spare a thought to going deep in Martyrs Square on January 31 where is the tombstone. The Secretary Angelo Troiano
